Course Background
Family Leadership Center’s parent education centers on the tenets of the Individual Psychology of Alfred Adler – as relevant to parenting today as it was over 100 years ago. This course focuses on 4 main themes called The 4 Crucial Cs. Authors and parent educators, Dr. Betty Lou Bettner and Amy Lew, created the Four Crucial Cs as guides that support parents –- or any adult with children -– to navigate whatever challenges might arise.
The 4 Crucial Cs:
Connect, Capable, Count, Courage
Why a Parenting Class with live sessions?
Research shows that adult learning happens best through conversation. Exploring ideas together in a safe, connected space helps us to discover and apply new ideas and approaches. The important work of raising families is worthy of this kind of space. Together we can grow, experiment, and become the parents we want to be.
It’s in this spirit that we invite you to join us. Each week we will focus on one of The 4 Crucial Cs. Together, we will practice strategies for growing each of the 4 Cs with the children in your life in a relaxed, virtual gathering.
Who’s Invited?
Parents, Teachers, Caregivers, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Neighbors… anyone who wants to connect about raising and collectively supporting children.
Family Leadership Center supports the work of raising children to grow up able to function and contribute in a meaningful way. Together, we are raising kids to one day support a strong family, community, and ultimately a thriving democracy.
Course includes:
- Engaging live sessions over Zoom with experienced parent educators
- Activities and exercises to practice in the class and take home to share with the children in your life
- Learning platform with facilitated group conversation board and resource library
Leave each session with:
- A new understanding of your parenting style and children’s behavior
- Fresh ideas for how to lead your family in an encouraging and truly powerful way
- Crack the code on misbehavior and learn how to support a child’s growth in a positive direction
